Melissa Zexter

Melissa Zexter combines embroidery with photography. She sews by hand directly onto printed images she has taken her self. Her area of expertise is to explore the photographs material status as well as to examine issues of identity, memory and technology. And has also exhibited throughout the United States and internationally including the bronx museum of arts and more.

many of the patterns she embroiders are abstract reproductions of personal souvenirs:  floral patterns from childhood dresses or a bus route of her home town etc. The patterns serve as webs and grids over the photographs, providing another dimension to the images. the sewing also creates a filtered experience, like the way emotions and personal history alter everyday perception.

Maurizio Anzeri

Maurizio Anzeri is an Italian artist who combines vintage photography with embroidered contemporary designs to create “photo sculptures”. I think that Anzeri creates some unusual but extremely creative work with a lot of stories behind the photographs. This photo to me represents different personalities. For example, the man in blue could be hiding that he is sad or something as blue kind of represents that. The hole could be just the small fracture of himself that he wants people to see, or that he only wants to see a small amount of reality. Which is another thing these masks could represent, seperate realities of what they think the world really looks like.

This photo shows alot of effort but at the same time none at all. the man has his head slouched back which is kind of like a lazy pose And the stitch work is really neat and tidy but at the same time its all over the place and shows a complete lack of interest from Anzeri when he was stitching it. Its is also quiet a graceful photo tho, like the whole thing just makes me think, who cares?because this guy certainly doesn’t.

HELP!! Is what this photograph is screaming at me. The thread coming from her mouth is obviosly representing sound and the way her mouth is open wide says that she is screaming or shouting. And the thread from her eye must be representing tears as it is running down her cheek bone all the way to her clothes.

Gel project

For this project we got given some quality street wrappers and started to experiment taking pictures and changing the colour of our photos with them. We started by putting the wrappers over the camera lense which made the photos look like they had coloured filters on them if you held them close. We then tried putting them over the flash which say if you used red it made the photo look warm, or blue would make the photo look cold. We then had a go at other techniques such as only covering half the lense or using more than one colour at a time.

Lincolnshire life museum

On Wednesday 14th of November we as a group went to Lincolnshire life museum to take photographs of our lego man with the historic items. The museum is full of old cars, trains, bikes and alot of things to do with the war. All together it was a fun experience but there wasnt alot of inspiration for photographs with our lego man.

I also used some fake snow. I tried to create as many different looks as possible but with a limited amount of objects this was difficult.

Mondays photoshoot

P1050084.JPGP1050096.JPGtoday we did our first lego man photoshoots.

I think the shoot went well and the idea of travelling worked very well with my muskateer lego man. I deffinatly put 100% effort in with this task i brought in all the correct items including, play dough, toys and i even attempted to make my own slime which is the only thing i think didn’t go well.

I could’ve improved my shoot by maybe coming up with some less messy ideas next time and having a little bit longer to do it. Over all i am impressed with my photoshoot and it wold be super fun to do it again.

Lego man

When we first got our Lego men we went out for a couple of hours to get our first photos of him.

Here is my first photo and in it I made my Lego man look big in a little world by standing him in a model of a motte which was already small so I didn’t have to create false perspective for this photograph. For my second photo I have my Lego man being captured by a stone beast, this also had its own perspective so I didn’t have to do anything a certain way. And finally I have my little Lego man stood in a giant hole which was actually quiet small so I had to put my Lego man to the back and make him look smaller.

Dan Lecca

Dan lecca runway photographer is supposedly the king of runway photography. He is a Romanian immagrent who came to America at 19 not speaking a word of english. in his 20’s he started work as a cook and proceeded to do work on 7th avenue before he started taking photographs. Even starting off as a photographer he was never anybodys assistant he pretty much started off on his own.
